Whether you enjoy organizing or
assisting, we have plenty of opportunities for alumni who
can commit just a few hours during the year or each month or a year.
Below is a list of potential areas to help. Please contact
Jocelyn Yee to
volunteer.
Networking Lunch, Happy Hour,
and Decade Dinner Hosts
Help organize group events for fellow alums such as lunches, happy hours, and dinners. You simply have to
team up with another alumni friend, select a date and time, pick a
restaurant/bar of your choosing. Keep in mind easy to access
locations and reasonable costs. Here are tips on organizing a
networking
lunch or happy hour. Expect 2
to 3 hours per event.
Event Coordinators and Event
Volunteers
Assist in planning annual or one time events such as tours,
musical. Events can be
of your choosing or join an existing team. Involvement can include
event scheduling, event management, publicity (mailings, phone tree, etc.), food, and/or
registration.
Seminar and Lecture Series
Organizers
Coordinate a seminar or even an series of three to five per year
as part of our educational program. Contact professors or other
speakers. Work with our planning team on logistics and publicity.
Between five to ten hours.
Newsletter Writers
Author articles for two issues each year.
Website Developer
Help maintain the website for the Carnegie Mellon DC Area
Alumni Chapter. Anywhere between one and three hours a week.
Mentors
Join the DC Welcome program. Help recent graduates and interns
transition to living and working in the Nation's capital. A minimum
three month commitment required.
Planning Committee Members
Provide great ideas and utilize organizational skills. Minimum of
one year commitment required.
Get Recognized
Alumni awards are given to those alumni for service as well as
distinguished service. Learn
more or nominate an alumni for their service.
